[Pearls Ep 157: Bringing Sunday into the week.]
In yesterday’s Gospel reading (copied in the postscript), Jesus calls us to be salt and light to the world.
In Friday’s reflection ended with this:
Perhaps this weekend, in meditating with this scripture, ask God how you bring salt and light to the world. God sees things in you, and works through you, in ways you might not be aware of until you ask. Here’s to some surprises in God’s answer!
We hope you had a chance to do just that over the weekend.
If not, this is too important to pass up.
In addition to Sunday’s Gospel, perhaps meditate with the following from Romans (12:4-8), placing yourself before the Lord and asking Him for opportunities this week to discover new ways that you are part of His Body – how you are salt and light to the people before you.
“We, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith; if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; if one encourages, in encouraging; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”
Blessings on your journey with Christ –

Postscript: Mt 5:13-16
Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
