Happy Memorial Day and a special thank you to all who have served in our military.
Not only is today Memorial Day, it also marks the Feast of Mary Mother of the Church – which is beautifully fitting for a day reserved to honor selfless service and sacrifice.
According to private revelations to St. Brigid of Sweden and Venerable Mary of Agreda, our Blessed Mother remained on earth for another 15 years after the death, resurrection, and ascension of her Son. God gave her the choice to return to heaven before that, but she always submitted her will to the Divine Will – which was for her to remain on earth and intercede for the fledgling Church as its Spiritual Mother.
As much as Mary desired to be reunited with Christ in heaven, she willingly suffered separation from Him for the greater good of caring for the disciples as they shepherded the Body of Christ on earth. Such is the heart of a mother.
There is a reflection of that dignity in everyone we honor on Memorial Day.
In tomorrow’s email we’ll complete our consideration of the great gift of Pentecost.
Holy Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us!
